Covid-19 Update for our 2021 Season
*as of January 8, 2021. Subject to change.
A Note from our Executive Director:
January 8, 2021
Dear Studios,
Let me begin by saying thank you for your support as we begin our new year. Many of our cities are sold out and we are hoping a sense of normal will soon settle in.
Wednesday I made the decision to require masks on stage at all our 2021 competitions. This decision was made with thorough evaluation of the current Covid conditions, consultation with medical professionals, and I was in discussion with other competitions and industry businesses. I weighed the risk to dancers, studios, and audiences, as well as careful consideration for my own Staff. Currently, I am revising this decision and masking while performing will be decided by what each venue requires of us. At this time none of our scheduled venues are requiring masks on stage but please be aware this could change at any time and you will be contacted by our office in the event this happens.
Further accommodations will be made by me and my traveling staff so your students will be able to dance without masks if you choose. There will be new protocol for your students to take on and off masks backstage.
As best as we can estimate, approximately half our current studios mask while practicing at their studio, while the other half do not…if your studio wishes to wear masks on stage, please continue with those plans and know there are no deductions in judge’s points if a mask doesn’t match dancewear or in the event a mask falls, etc.
We look forward to hosting your students, families, and staff and to celebrate what we hope is the beginning of a full season of dance. Remember, it takes everyone working together to succeed in these difficult times.
If you have further questions, you may contact us at any time.

We are anticipating a great year ahead for Stage One! Even though we all have made MAJOR adjustments to our lives and our businesses, the outlook for the future of dance is BRIGHT! We are forging ahead with our 2021 plans, adjustments will be in place to assure you the health and wellness of your dancers/families is our primary goal.
We thought you might like some updates:
We will be communicating with the studios prior to the competition about any adjustments or changes we may need to make to the competition due to updated CDC guidelines or city regulations regarding Covid-19. Stage One had a very successful 2020 Nationals competition this summer in Branson, reinventing our style of competition. We implemented temperature checks, a studio block schedule for groups, as well as limiting the audience to ensure safety measures were in place. If needed, we are prepared to take all of these actions and more to create a competition you can feel comfortable bringing your dancer and families to.
